The Austin Independent School District supports the baseball program of each of its high schools with direct yearly funding that's just about enough to buy a season's worth of balls. Many other expenses must rely on Booster Club grants and other fund raisers.

To be fair, AISD does supply some significant indirect support functions, like transportation and information. For an example of the latter, go to the official AISD web site, where the District has listed the 16-5A baseball teams.

BOWIE BULLDOGS

The Eagles held Bowie, a well regarded team, scoreless for 5 of the game's 7 innings, and that says something for the Eagle defense. But with only 5 hits - compared to 12 for the Bulldogs - the Eagle bats just couldn't keep up.

Eric Davila went the distance on the mound for the Eagles.

Four Eagles had base hits: Hohertz, Morton, Treviņo and Rogalewski.
