Eagle teammates troop out to welcome Rogalewski as he rounds the bases in a homerun trot.

Dripping Springs courtesy runner Evan Smith, running for catcher Logan Wyeth, takes a lead at 3rd, as Eagle 3rd baseman Daniel Fabian gets set for the pitch. Note the lights from a nearby field. Those are behind the fielders, but they're directly in the eyes of a catcher at home plate.

Eagle 1st baseman Rogalewski homers in the top of the 3rd.

ANOTHER EAGLE. Just 12 minutes out of the downtown Austin station, Amtrak's Texas Eagle roars past Garrison Park on time at precisely 8:32 PM. Next stop is San Marcos.

Treviņo bats in the top of the 3rd.

Daniel Fabian in the top of the 4th. Batter became base runner on a throwing error by the pitcher.

Score is tied in the 5th inning before the Tigers begin a 2-out rally.

The Eagles played a fairly good game for four innings against a tough and honest Dripping Springs team. Unfortunately, the game lasted longer than 4 innings.

The pitching of Eric Davila showed the promise of good things to come, but he gave up 5 hits and 6 walks. That's a lot of base runners.

Eagle bats were quiet, delivering a total of only 4 hits. Two of those were by Richard Rogalewski, who chalked up an RBI single and a solo home run. Daniel Fabian had a 2nd-inning double and Jordan Treviņo had an RBI single.

The Dripping Springs Tigers went on to play Round Rock for the championship of the AISD Tournament.

Daniel Fabian scored in the 7th inning, but it was too little, too late for the Eagles.

The Hazards of Being a Catcher. Part III.
Event: stopping an incoming ball with your face. As the runner came in from 3rd in the bottom of the 5th inning, Eagle shortstop Jason Rangel made the throw to the plate, where catcher Charles Morton was positioned to tag the runner. Morton saw the lights from an adjacent field and mistook one of them for the ball.

Then the real ball came. The image at the right shows the ball just after it ricocheted off Morton's face.

Six stitches. Morton was in uniform for the game at 9:30 AM the following morning.

So many questions. It's easier just to post the picture...
