Thursday schedule, February 24, 2005:
AKINS HAS NO TOURNAMENT GAME ON THURSDAY!
Friday schedule February 25, 2005:
8:30 AM - JV Navy players report to Akins
9:00 AM - Depart Akins High School
10:00 AM - Arrive Manor High School
10:30 AM - Warm up for Game 1 against Manor Mustangs
11:00 AM - GAME TIME Beat Manor!
Game 2 for Akins will be either Friday at 4:30 PM or at 7:15 PM.
Transportation will be by AISD regular school bus.
The players should take enough money for eating after the games.
We will return after the end of the second game.

TOURNAMENT STYLE: 8 teams. Modified double elimination with consolation bracket.. Each team will play 3 games.

Playing in the Manor High School Varsity Tournament, the Eagles Navy JV beat Manor High School 7-5 in their opening game of the year. Sparked by Daniel Mercado's 3 run Homerun in the 5th Inning, came back to tie the game at 5. The Navy
played solid defense, stopping Manor twice with the bases loaded in the 2nd and 4th Innings. Joe Sutton advanced to 2nd on Ben Grajczyk's sacrifice bunt. Bryan Hernandez worked a walk to put runners on first and second. Joe Sutton advanced
to third on Daniel Mercado's sacrifice fly to left center and scored when the throw went into the Mustang dugout. Aggressive base running by Bryan Hernandez allowed him to score from 1st on the play. Joe Sutton pitched a complete game,
recording 5 strike-outs.
In the second game against the Knights JV from Harker Heights the Navy surrendered a game opening homerun. Playing solid defense behind Ulises Castillo's solid pitching effort, the Navy held the Knights
scoreless until the 5th Inning, surrendering two runs. Jacob Saldana came in relief in the 5th with the bases loaded. With Jacob working out of the jam, the Navy rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game.
Hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of 7th, Bryan Hernandez scored from 1st on Daniel Mercado' s double to the gap in left center. Ulises Castillo recorded three strike-outs and Jacob Saldana recorded 4 in the victory.
