Georgetown Tournament
Georgetown High School - Georgetown, Texas
Eagles 3   Georgetown Eagles 6

comments by: Bob Morton, webmaster

The Eagles drew the host team on its own field for their opening game in the Georgetown Invitational Tournament. Eagle lefthander Eric Davila pitched a complete game, but the effort was hurt by defensive errors at key points in the game.

Scoring for the Eagles was confined to the fourth inning.

Georgetown Tournament
Rockwell Field, Southwestern Univ. - Georgetown, Texas
Eagles 0   Southlake Carroll Dragons 10

comments by: Bob Morton, webmaster

The Eagles drew a tough tournament opponent in the Southlake Carroll Dragons. All but one batter in Carroll's lineup were able to hit Eagle pitching. That firepower fueled a carousel of runners that ended the game early.

Bright spots for the Eagles were few. Airrik Martinez got 2 of the Eagles' total of 4 base hits for the game, with Jason Rangel and Charles Morton recording the other two.

Georgetown Tournament
San Gabriel Park Field - Georgetown, Texas
Eagles 1   McCallum Knights  5

comments by: Bob Morton, webmaster

The Eagles committed only one recordable fielding error in the McCallum game, but that was one too many. Just as importantly, the team failed to capitalize on its offensive opportunities. Ten Eagle batters reached base. Only one would make it home to score. Eagle batters delivered only 3 base hits, and those were spread out over 3 different innings. It's tough to sustain any kind of scoring rally that way.

Righthander Richard Rogalewski pitched 4 effective and scoreless innings before giving up 3 earned runs in the 5th. Reliever Jordan Trevino couldn't quite stop the bleeding. Still, you can win a lot of baseball games when your opponent has just 5 runs.

Unless you have just 1 run.

District 16-5A
Burger Field - Austin, Texas
Eagles 1   Bowie Bulldogs  6

comments by: Bob Morton, webmaster

The Eagles held Bowie, a well regarded team, scoreless for 5 of the game's 7 innings, and that says something for the Eagle defense. But with only 5 hits - compared to 12 for the Bulldogs - the Eagle bats just couldn't keep up.

Eric Davila went the distance on the mound for the Eagles.

Four Eagles had base hits: Hohertz, Morton, Treviņo and Rogalewski.
