TOURNAMENT STYLE: 8 teams, 2-pool round robin.

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Home team will occupy the 3^rd base dugout at both sites.  A coin flip will determine home team prior to each game.
2. No infield practice will be allowed before games.
3. Batting cages will be available
4. Courtesy runners will be used to speed up the games.
5. We will have Twelve Run Rule after four innings, and Eight Run Rule after five innings.
6. We will play a 2 hour time limit. Drop dead time limit at 2 hours.
7. Each team will play 4 games.

Outcome / Comments
The tournament encountered a few early problems. San Marcos Baptist Academy was forced to withdraw because of eligibility issues concerning some of the team’s student athletes. Their withdrawal was appropriate and gracious. Travis High School simply didn’t show up. Travis was a no-show at a freshman tournament at Northwest Park on Friday, too.

To provide competition in place of the missing Travis team, the Akins JV Gold team was pressed into service. The Eagles JV Gold won their Friday afternoon game with the Del Valle JV, besting the Cardinals by a score of 8-6.

GAME 1. The Eagles JV Navy beat the Westlake JV1 8 to 7 on Thursday. Ty Snyder pitched, but did not record a decision. Eagles reliever Jonathan Candelas got the win.

GAME 2. Eagles 6, McCallum Knights 5. Ryan Gomez pitched a complete game and notched the win for Akins.

GAME 3. On Friday, the JV Navy played McCallum again - and prevailed again. This time the score was Eagles 15, McCallum 7. The winning pitcher for the Eagles was William Callahan.

GAME 4. The Eagles JV Navy met the Bastrop Bears on Saturday at Akins Field for the tournament championship game. The Eagles won the game 11 to 8 behind winning pitcher Jonathan Candelas and were crowned CHAMPIONS of the 2012 Akins/Crockett JV Baseball Tournament!
