Eagle infielders have a bit of fun at the mound before the start of the 3rd inning.

Salinas had given up only 1 hit, going into the 3rd.

Playing in on the grass in anticipation of a bunt (left picture), Eagle 1st baseman Charles Morton fields a dribbler off the bat of Cougar 2nd baseman Aaron Rendon and races to intercept the runner on the base path. Morton makes the tag, leaving Rendon (#3) a bit the worse for the encounter (right picture). Then Morton checks Crockett base runner Sean Andrews, who advanced from 2nd base to 3rd on the bunt and is looking at home plate. Andrews was held at 3rd base.

Eagle infielders gather before the 5th inning.

Going into the 5th inning, the scoreboard at Burger shows that it's still a fairly close game. The Eagles trail the Cougars 3-0.

Martin Salinas flips the ball in the air as Coach Velasquez visits the mound.

The 5th inning became a disaster. The first three batters reached base on errors, (E6, E5, E4) followed by a walk, an extra-base hit and 2 passed balls, one of which allowed a run to score. Salinas (18) leaves the mound, but stays in the game to play 2nd base.

Richard Rogalewski comes on to pitch in 5th inning relief with the score 7-0 and a Crockett runner on 2nd base.

Twilight at Burger. The Eagles' troubles continue, as the 6th inning begins with a walk, two base hits and another walk.

With Jason Rangel and Matt Hohertz each on base as the result of a single, Jordan Treviño shows a bunt in the bottom of the 6th.

After working the count full and adding 2 extra foul balls, Rogalewski flies out to short to end the game.

The score after 6 complete innings was 12-2, and the game was called under the 10-run mercy rule. Eagles spill out onto the field to shake hand with their opponents.

Airrik Martinez rounds out to the Crockett shortstop but, advances Rangel to 3rd and drives in Hohertz, spoiling the shutout. Rangel scored on a passed ball.
