Supporters and Benefactors

The Austin Independent School District allots each of its high school baseball programs approximately $1,100 per year for its direct expenses. From this token amount, local programs are supposed to acquire uniforms, equipment and incidentals! Perhaps this helps explain why it seems Eagles baseball players are constantly selling tamales or seeking pledges for their performance at a home run derby.

Signs of Support

The Akins Baseball Boosters Club is selling signs on the outfield fence of the Eagles' field. Available in two sizes, the signs are an effective way to reach loyal fans who will appreciate your support of the Eagles!

For more information, contact the Akins Baseball Booster Club.

SPEAKING OF SUPPORTERS, here's a quick Eagle quiz: Who's the LOUDEST fan at any Eagle ballgame? (Hint: it's not the lady in the white shirt.)

A Concession Speech

Looking for a cold drink or a snack at a game on the Eagles' home field? You're in luck! Volunteers from the Akins Baseball Booster Club swarm the concrete slab where the concessions stand will someday be, and they sell drinks and snacks to benefit the Akins baseball program.

Parents of players are asked to give a little time to the effort. If you haven't yet contacted Cheryl Martinez to volunteer, she'll probably be calling you!

VOLUNTEERS from the Akins Baseball Boosters set up the concessions stand on a bitterly cold Saturday morning before the Freshmen and JV teams play Crockett at the Akins field. [March 29, 2003]

And there's more ...

To raise money for the Akins baseball program, the Baseball Booster club sells yard signs for proudly proclaiming the residence of an Akins student athlete. The Booster Club pounces on other fund raisers, like occasional evenings in which a local Taco Cabana franchise shares a portion of its sales with the Akins Baseball Booster Club.

A SMALL BUT FAITHFUL band of Eagles fans fills (?) the stands for an Akins Varsity game on a cold evening at Woerner Stadium on the Westlake High School campus. [April 8, 2003]

Or both!
