Eagles 4   Hays Rebels 8

comments by: Coach Jim Luhrman

The Navy JV suffered a heart-breaking loss to Hays on Wednesday evening at Akins.  The Eagles broke on top in the bottom of the 1st.  Michael Flores tripled to Right and later scored on a Wild Pitch. Hays countered in the top of the 2nd with a lead-off walk. Getting two quick outs the Eagles gave up the tying run on an error by Shortstop Jacob Saldana.

In the bottom of the 2nd Bryan Hernandez was hit by Hays pitcher Shane DeSantiago with two outs. Daniel Mercado then took an 0-1 pitch deep to Center.  Bryan was nailed at the plate on an excellent relay by Hays Centerfielder Taylor Keith and Shortstop Brooks Pinkard.

In the top of the 3rd, Hays struck back for two runs on Jacob Saldana's second error of the game. Hays scored two more in the top of the 4th Inning.

With the bases loaded on three consecutive walks in the bottom of the 4th, the Eagles scored three runs on a wild pitch and singles by Ben Grajczyk and Bryan Hernandez.

The 5th and 6th Innings saw Hays put down in order. Unfortunately the Eagles did the same, ending the game with Charles Garcia's long fly to Leftfield.

Defensively Adam Samaniego turned in another solid defensive game contributing to put-outs with Firstbaseman Daniel Mercado and Charles Garcia three times and corralling two popflys.
