The Rattler field is directly across the road from a state fish hatchery. Knowing whether the wind is blowing in or out has importance beyond just judging whether a fly ball will carry. Spectators were lucky a stiff breeze was blowing in from the outfield.

A sponsored sign on Staples Road beside the San Marcos baseball field announces the game between the Akins Eagles and the San Marcos Rattlers. This baseball game was the last 25-5A district contest between the two schools. Along with Seguin, San Marcos has been moved, starting next year, to a district mainly consisting of San Antonio schools.

Used exclusively as a relief pitcher before this outing, Rangel pitched the entire game, the first Eagle pitcher to do so since March 6. He threw 5 Ks in 6 innings and allowed 7 runs (4 of them earned) on 11 hits. Rangel helped his own cause offensively by contributing 2 base hits and scoring 1 of the 4 Eagle runs.
