A 3rd inning infield grounder resulted in a throw from Eagle shortstop Rangel that reaches the long arm of 1st baseman Richard Rogalewski long before LBJ hitter Harrell can make it to 1st base. Eagle catcher Morton sprints along the sideline to provide backup for the throw.

MAR 11, 2004
After getting on base in the 2nd inning with an RBI double, Eagle left fielder Jordan Treviņo stole 3rd base. Here, he slides home for a run on a throwing error by LBJ catcher Donald Harrell.

Eagle shortstop Jason Rangel heads for a 2nd base rendezvous with LBJ outfielder Jeremy Hale. Play was halted while Hale recovered from the ensuing tag in the bottom of the 4th inning. Minutes later in the top of the 5th, Hale left the game after colliding with the outfield wall while attempting to field a long fly hit by Morton of the Eagles.

MAR 11, 2004
Perhaps impressed by Rangel's 1st inning circus catch, the Jaguars attempted one of their own in the 7th inning when Rogalewski dumped an RBI single into shallow center field. Eagle base runner Fabian can't help but watch the show.

MAR 11, 2004
Eagle 3rd baseman Daniel Fabian was caught stealing 3rd in the top of the 7th inning. He created a 2-5-6-5 hot box, and in the end, it appears to have required two LBJ players to take him out just short of the bag!

Casey Castaņeda at 2nd base for the Eagles in the bottom of the 7th inning.

MAR 11, 2004
Right hander Jason Rangel came on in relief in the bottom of the 7th. He faced four batters from the top of the Jaguar order and struck out two of them (both looking!) to close the game.

WEBMASTER'S NOTE:
As it turned out, this Thursday afternoon game with LBJ would be the only contest Akins would play in the AISD Tournament. Rain washed out the remainder of the schedule for the Eagles, who can say they were undefeated in the tournament!

MAR 11, 2004
Final score: Akins Eagles 8,  LBJ Jaguars 4.
