Matt Cavazos accepts a base on balls in the 7th, loading the bases for the Eagles.

In the bottom of the 7th, Salinas hit Crockett’s leadoff batter, Matt Rosas, with a pitched ball. He walked the next batter, Mike Gomez, and a sacrifice bunt by Munoz put the two runners in scoring position.

Then Salinas saw the Eagles’ 2-run lead evaporate altogether when Cougar 1st baseman Smith hit a 2-RBI double, scoring Rosas and Gomez and knotting the score at 6.

Martin Salinas comes on in 7th-inning relief to attempt the save with a 2-run lead. Score is Eagles 6, Crockett 4.

Leaping to catch the throw to the plate, Eagle catcher Berg goes vertical. Crockett’s Gomez goes horizontal for the tying score.

Smith’s 7th-inning hit brings in 2 runs for Crockett and ties the game.

Eagle infielders talk it over in the 7th,

Before the end of the 7th, Salinas would hit a batter and strike out 2 of them, including Rendon, above.

Daniel Guerra, shown here at 1st base with Coach Peveto, hit an 8th-inning single.

Guerra takes 2nd on a wild pitch and would take 3rd on another wild pitch.

HUGE. Jacob Saldaña’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th scores Guerra for the go-ahead run. Now the Eagles have to hold the Cougars scoreless in the bottom of the 8th.

Cazadessus bats for Crockett in the bottom of the 8th.

Having blown the save, Salinas goes to work on the win.
